Between LinkedIn, your email inbox, and social media it can be a struggle to keep up with everything going on around us, let alone keep up with the latest thought leadership in the email marketing industry (especially during the crazy busy holiday season). But if we don’t keep up with what’s going on, we risk falling behind… the competition, that is.

Keeping up is imperative for ensuring we’re doing the best job we can as email marketers, as well as for making sure we’re investing in our careers. So we’ve combed through many email marketing blog options to choose our favorites for you, so you can take a shortcut to new knowledge. You’ll see seven email-specific blogs below, along with two non-email blogs that will add much to your ideas and understanding as an email marketer.

Top email marketing blogs

1. Only Influencers

The Only Influencers blog is influential indeed. The posts cover like email strategy, agencies, design and buying help, with contributors who are leaders in the industry, like Kath Pay, Jeanne Jennings and Dela Quist.

2. EmailMonday

Coordinated and edited by Jordie van Rijn, an independent email consultant, the Email Monday blog covers a wide range of topics with a tactical, practical approach using plenty of illustrations and explanations. If you’re looking for a hands-on kind of email marketing blog, definitely check out this one.

3. The Email Marketing Chronicles

The Email Marketing Chronicles offers blog posts by a variety of contributors as well as by Scott Hardigree, the brains behind the blog. You never quite know what you’ll find in this blog, so it’s worth checking out for the occasional outside-the-box perspective.

4. Email Marketing Rules

Email Marketing Rules is Chad White’s blog, and “your guide to understanding the best practices of this complex, often misunderstood channel” known as email marketing. Chad’s posts will keep you on top of industry trends as well as give you his unique insight into those strategies and tactics you should be using.

5. The EmailOnAcid blog

EmailOnAcid offers email marketers tools to build, test and track their email marketing campaigns. You can get your geek on with their blog! You’ll find posts on many different kinds of topics and industry news, but where else will you find posts on email development with titles like “Using Media Queries in HTML Email” and “Naver Webmail Testing: What You Need to Know”?

6. The eDataSource Blog

If you guessed the eDataSource blog is heavy on data, you guessed right. Consistently one of the best sources of high-quality content that isn’t afraid to take a deep-dive into the analytics and combine that with extensive email expertise for a weekly dose of email marketing insight. Highly recommend. We just wish they made it easier to share on social media…sign up for the newsletter or else you might miss this one.

7. The Maropost blog

Hey, we’d be remiss if we didn’t toot our own horn just a little, especially as our blog is picking up speed. In the Maropost blog, you can expect to find deep dives into email marketing best practices as well as thought leadership pieces that will get you seeing email in a new light.

Two bonus blogs…

Speaking of remiss, we must mention two other favorite blogs that aren’t email specific but deliver amazing digital marketing content:

· The DigitalMarketer blog—like so many of our favorite blogs listed here—covers a wide range of topics. They aren’t about email but they are definitely relevant to anyone working in digital marketing. You’ll find posts on social media marketing, hiring staff, conversions, testing, Facebook, paid campaigns and much, much more. If you’re a digital marketer of any stripe, this blog is a gold mine of useful resources covering everything from the tactical to the strategic.

· If it’s relevant to marketing in any way shape or form, it’s probably covered with brilliance in Neil Patel’s blog. There you can read up on social media, SEO, LinkedIn, YouTube, content marketing, blogging, Instagram and so much more. This won’t be run-of-the-mill, seen-it-all-before content, but stuff that gets your brain engaged—and inspired. The best part about Neil’s blog is that he always gives you a look “under the hood”; posts screenshots of his analytics platform and is always very transparent with all of his data. One of the best marketing blogs out there, hands down.

There you have it, nine of our favorite email marketing (or just marketing) blogs and why we like them.
