The Maropost Marketing Cloud is chock-full of cool and powerful features. With so many new and interesting things in the platform, we wanted to catch you up on some of the items you may have overlooked. They’re super-powerful and can help to both streamline and strengthen your use of your system!

1) Auto-append Analytics Tracking Variables – Normally – when you need to append web analytic tracking parameters to your email links – you have to create the links, then append them by hand to each and every link you want to track. Not anymore.

Inside the Maropost Marketing Cloud email editor, you now have the ability to create those parameters once, then auto-append them to every non-Maropost Marketing Cloud link in your content. The best part? You can use your choice of analytics packages.

In the email editor, go to the ‘Advanced’ tab and click on ‘Web Analytics’. You’ll then see two boxes and an ‘Add Parameter’ box. The first box is for the name of the parameter, for example in Google Analytics you might use ‘utm_souce’. The second box is the value of that particular variable, for example ‘email’. Instead of populating the value yourself, you can use our substitution tags, for instance {{}}, to dynamically set the values of your tracking parameters – which, by the way, is totally awesome. If you want to add another parameter, simply click ‘Add Parameter’ again and repeat the process.

2. Pre-built data integrators – A number of clients work to pull data from CRM and/or shopping cart systems. For those customers, we have a series of pre-built configurations that can speed up the integration of your organization’s data.

After you log into the system, hover over your name. A drop down menu will appear and you’ll see ‘Connections’. If you click here you will see some of our pre-built integrations, including Infusionsoft, Microsoft Dynamics, Salesforce, Netsuite, Shopify and our shopping carts – 1shopping, Ultra, Nanacast, 3D and Click Bank. You’ll also see our complete set of APIs, so you can customize your own connections, and our Relational Tables setup area – more about that in a follow-up!

Use these connectors to save yourself time and effort in linking your data to your Maropost Marketing Cloud System.

3. “Random” Segmentation – In the process of building email programs, you might want to “hold out” a number of people from seeing the offer in order to truly judge the lift of a particular campaign. With Maropost Marketing Cloud, it’s easy.

Within the ‘Email’ tab, click on ‘Segments’. In the Variable box – it’s the very first one, select ‘Random’. From there, select the size cell you want to create, either by count or by percentage, then select which list you want to draw from. Give the segment a name and you now have a random sample.

When you create a campaign, click ‘Suppress Segments’ – your random file will be there to be used as a “hold out” from mailing. From there, you can also download the segment to bring it into your BI tool of choice, where you can determine the overall behavior of people who were mailed against the sample of those who weren’t. It’s an excellent way to help determine the total value of your email program.

We hope you find these tips and insights helpful. We publish them every couple of weeks to make sure you’re maximizing the value of your Maropost Marketing Cloud platform.
